 Volunteering at EcoCostel Guesthouse

Greetings! I’m Constantin, the host of EcoCostel.

I transformed my family home into a cozy guesthouse after years of being active in the Couchsurfing community and now in Airbnb. EcoCostel is located in the peaceful village of Rosu, near Cahul — Moldova’s third-largest city, in the sunny south of the country. Here, life follows a natural rhythm: calm life, organic gardens, blue skies, friendly neighbors, and traditional village charm.

I’m inviting volunteers to join me at EcoCostel and experience the Moldovan countryside while helping with small everyday tasks. In exchange, I offer free accommodation, food, and the chance to enjoy a simple, meaningful lifestyle close to nature.

How You Can Help

The assistance I need is quite light and flexible:

- House care: Basic cleaning inside and around the house.

- Animal care: Feeding my friendly cats (Jassy and Tomy) and outdoor dog (Jimmy) when I am away.

- Accompanying guests: Showing travelers around Rosu or Cahul if they want a guide.

- Seasonal garden work:

  - Spring: Seeding, planting.

  - Summer: Harvesting fruits, herbs, berries.

  - Autumn/Winter: Cracking nuts, drying herbs, packing seeds.

- Creative tasks: Writing articles together about EcoCostel, taking photos, small DIY projects.

There are also easy daily tasks like washing dishes, locking up the house in the evenings, refreshing rooms, and occasionally helping to prepare food.

What I Offer

- A private bedroom and access to a modern kitchen and bathroom.

- Home-cooked meals — often traditional Moldovan food, vegetarian and rawvegan.

- Language exchange and a chance to learn about Moldovan traditions.

- Free Wi-Fi and a peaceful space to relax or work on your own projects.

Sometimes we cook together or visit the local markets — fresh food here is truly affordable and organic compared to other parts of Europe!

Important:

At this stage of my life, I am also searching for a woman who dreams of living a simple, meaningful life close to nature. I warmly welcome volunteers, especially single women between the ages of 18 and 39, because I believe that meeting and working together in a real, practical environment is the best way to truly get to know each other. It gives us both the chance to see whether we share common values, goals, and lifestyles — and possibly to build a future relationship based on trust, collaboration, and natural growth.

Life in the countryside is deeply rewarding: fresh air, organic gardens, sun-filled days, and a rhythm that connects you back to yourself. Here at EcoCostel, I offer not just a volunteering opportunity but also a place for authentic connection and the potential to create a beautiful shared life together.

Regardless of your dietary preferences, you’ll have the opportunity to experience healthy, uncomplicated meals crafted from fresh, local produce. Through my own seven years of experience, I have come to realize that raw veganism works best as a temporary method for healing and detoxifying the body, rather than as a long-term lifestyle. While short periods of raw vegan eating can bring powerful benefits like physical cleansing, renewed energy, and improved mental clarity, my personal experience showed that following such a strict diet for many years can eventually cause imbalances. Today, I maintain a natural, plant-based diet with seasonal, locally-grown foods, focusing on sustainable health and well-being rather than extreme practices.

Volunteer Details

- Minimum stay: 2 weeks (longer stays welcome up to 3 months — flexible!)

- Working time: 4 hours/day, Monday to Friday.

- Free weekends to explore or relax.

- Tasks are flexible and adapted to the season.

You don’t need special skills — just a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and love for simple living.

Discover the Beauty of Rosu and Cahul

Rosu is known for its beautiful ‘gingerbread houses’ painted in bright colors and decorated by hand. Even the village water wells are small works of folk art!

Locals are warm and friendly, often offering fresh eggs, wine, or fruits from their gardens.

Cahul city is just 15 minutes away by minibus — a vibrant place with outdoor markets, shops, and the famous *Nufarul Alb* folk music festival.
